January Question Of The Month

Which Grating product is right for me?

FibreGrid offers a number of different grating products; each with their own benefits and uses. If you aren't sure which product you should purchase, check below for a brief description of our products.

Square Mesh Grating

FibreGrid’s square mesh FibreGrating is an extremely durable, long-lasting; chemical resistant, anti-slip moulded fibreglass grating.

It is ideal for walkways, gullies, trenches, cooling towers, overhead gantries, railway crossing points, service risers and various other applications due to its wide range of properties that can’t be matched by traditional materials such as steel or aluminium.

Our Standard Grit Top Grating is ideal for most applications including service risers, factory floors and areas with medium to heavy foot traffic. If you need grating for harsh environments (oil rigs, chemical plants, coastal applications) with heavy to extreme foot traffic, then our Heavy Duty Embedded Grit Top Grating is for you.

Please note - Standard and Heavy Duty refer to the grit on the top of the grating, not the grating strength itself.

Colours: green, grey or yellow.

Available to purchase pre-cut online from £75.00 ex VAT.

For fabrication, cut-to-size, bulk and large orders – please call for pricing.

Mini Mesh Grating

FibreGrid also offers FibreGrating Mini Mesh GRP Grit Top Grating – a smaller mesh size grating. Ideal for walkways, overhead gantries, railway crossing points and areas that need to prevent objects falling through, or areas of foot traffic where heels may be caught on standard sized grating.

Colours: Stone, black, grey or yellow.

Available to purchase pre-cut online from £176.00 ex VAT.

For fabrication, cut-to-size, bulk and large orders – please call for pricing.

Pultruded Grating

FibreSpan GRP Pultruded Fibreglass Grating is a composite of fibreglass reinforcements (fibres and mats) and a thermosetting resin system produced by the pultrusion process.

It is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre yet can handle significant weights too. This is thanks to its unique construction process, where pultruded structural ‘I’ and ‘T’ beam profiles are joined together.

It is ideal for walkways, gullies, trenches, cooling towers, overhead gantries and railway crossing points.

Resistant to impact, chemicals and corrosion.

Colours: grey and yellow.

Solid Top Grating

FibreCover Solid Top GRP Grating is a lightweight, chemical resistant, heavy duty GRP Grating, suitable for areas where a fully covered surface is required.

It is ideal for walkways, gullies, trenches, cooling towers, overhead gantries and railway crossing points.

The heavy duty anti-slip surface makes it suitable for all levels of foot traffic, and its high load bearing capabilities also makes it suitable for areas with vehicular traffic.

• Impact resistant
• Durable anti-slip surface
• Fire retardant
• Lightweight – from just 18.5kg per m2 panel
• Non-conductive – radio frequency transparent and sound absorbing
• Non-magnetic
• Chemical and rust resistant

Can now be ordered pre-cut online from £428.00 ex VAT.

For fabrication, cut-to-size, bulk and large orders – please call for pricing.

Phenolic Grating

FibrePH grating is an alternative to maintenance-intensive metallic grating for applications where conventional pultruded grating cannot be used.

FibrePH can withstand high temperatures and direct flame while maintaining its structural integrity. The feature makes the grating ideal for a wide range of offshore, marine, transportation and industrial applications.

• High Flame Resistance
• Low Smoke and Toxic Fume Emissions
• High Temperature Resistance
• High Strength-to-Weight Ratio
• Corrosion Resistant
• Low Maintenance
