12,000 students a step closer to safety !

FibreGrid Limited, were recently called in to deal with two large slippery staircases at Lancashire ’s Stockport College .

The front and rear staircases at the College’s West Building are in constant use by the 12,000 students studying at the College. Over time the steps had become very slippery and an extreme health and safety hazard.

The front of the 109 steps had been worn down over time and had created a polished like surface. This was extremely dangerous and was an accident waiting to happen.

FibreGrid fitted their SlipGrip™ stair tread covers to the slippery stairs. The treads were fixed in place with a special adhesive and stainless steel concrete anchors.

One of the finished staircases that will never need replacing and Stockport College can rest assured that their safety hazard have been dealt with for the long term.
