Pultruded Grating
Quick Quote

General Information

Although sharing the same qualities of moulded grating with regard to fire and chemical resistance, pultruded grating offers superior strength and stiffness across the bearing bar length due to the higher percentage of reinforcements to resins.

This can sometimes reflect in a reduction in the materials required for the support structure and therefore generally lower costs.

Benefits

Anti Slip Top Surface
FibreGrid’s Pultruded Fibreglass Grating, has the option of a gritted top surface finish. This surface easily exceeds the minimum requirements of the “extremely low” potential for slip rating as per the UK Slip Resistant Group Guide 2002. It should comfortably offer better slip resistance and a longer life over time.

Fire Retardant & Chemical Resistant
FibreGrid’s Pultruded Grating has been tested in accord with BS 476: Part 7 and met the performance requirements of Class 1 (certificates available on request). The resin system used during manufacture means that the grating panels are resistant to a wide range of chemicals.

Lightweight & Impact Resistant
Pultruded grating offers a significant weight saving over traditional materials like steel. This makes the product easier to handle and install and requires no heavy lifting equipment. The products construction method means that it also offers the benefit of being extremely tough and impact resistant.

Increased Strength
Pultruded grating is made up of many pieces of generally pultruded I beam sections joined together by pultruded rod sections. This offers greater strength in one direction that standard moulded grating.

Non Magnetic & Non Sparking
Fibreglass’s non-magnetic properties allows the grating to be used in sensitive installations. Fibreglass Grating is also ideally suited for those installations where gases may be present and which may explode or cause a fire from sparks produced by accidental dropping of tools onto the grating.

Specifications

FibreGrid have the largest variety of fibreglass grating in the UK. If you have any special requirements our sales department will be happy to discuss your needs.

If you need advice on which fibreglass grating style, shape and size you require we will be happy to assist you in making a decision. Free samples are available for most of our fibreglass grating types.

Top Surface Finishes
A Standard grit top is applied to the majority of pultruded grating however grating can be supplied with a standard plain top.

Colours
Any of the grating types shown below can be manufactured in any BS or RAL colour.

Resin System
Standard pultruded grating is constructed using high grade chemical resistant Isophthalic Polyester resin (full chemical resistance chart available here).  The resin will include a UV inhibitor and be fire retardant to the requirement as set out in the BS 476: Part 7 Class 1 Rating (certificate available on request).  Other resin systems are available including phenolic resins for increased fire retardance. If you require different resin systems, please contact us to discuss your requirement.

Accessories

Fixing Clips
All clips are made from 316 stainless steel. Installation recommendation-whenever possible, provided for a minimum of 40mm bearing support at all grating support points. Hold down clips should be used at the rate of one clip for every 6 square feet (0.56square meters) of grating minimum, or at least 4 clips for any square or rectangular piece, or at least 3 for a triangular piece.
