Case Studies

Cambridge Offices

FibreGrid have just completed the installation of over 1500 of their DeckGrip Strips product at the frontage of large offices in Cambridge.

The outside decking, which leads to the main entrance could be extremely slippery in wet conditions as the outside decking has no coverage so is fully exposed to the elements.

The installation of the anti slip decking product was deemed as an extremely important safety enhancement to the decked area. The 50mm wide strips were used in the popular stone colour in a selection of 2400mm and 1200mm lengths.

The FibreGrid Installation Team took 6 days to finish the works and was able to complete the works during normal working hours due to the fact the strips can be walked on immediately unlike ‘wet’ slip resistant decking systems, which have to cure over a period of time.

In addition, winter temperatures can cause serious problems but as the DeckGrip Strips are simply screwed to the existing substrate this is not an issue, meaning winter weather is not too late for you to deal with your slippery areas.

De Montfort University

Slippery decking is a major safety issue throughout the year but more so during the winter months. DeckGrip Strips have provided a solution to this potential safety hazard at De Montfort University in Leicester for a main contractor.

FibreGrid’s 50mm wide chamfered edge strips were installed around the campus on decking areas that had recently been laid. The potential slip issue was made worse by the fact that the decking did not have any grooves in the top surface to offer some traction underfoot.

In dry weather the area did not generally cause any concerns but as the weather turned there was huge potential for slip accidents.

The stone coloured strips were chosen to allow for the strips to blend in with the substrate but still provide the all important slip resistance underfoot. The strips come already predrilled so the installation was completed in just one day over a weekend allowing the area to be put back into service on the Monday.

FibreGrid’s TactileGrip, corduroy tiles were also installed at the top of the staircases.
